The Future of Hindsite runs Hindsight and is the data controller for the personal data described here.
What we collect and why
- Account details (email, password stored securely) — to create and run your account. Basis: contract.
- Posts you scan — to produce flags and translations. Sent to our AI provider for reading and not kept unless you switch on "Save results". Basis: contract.
- Saved results — only if you choose to save them, until you switch saving off. Basis: consent.
- Usage counts (how many posts you scanned each month) — to apply the free limit. Basis: contract.
- Technical data (IP address, device and browser details, logs) — for security and fraud prevention. Basis: legitimate interests.
- Support messages — to help you. Basis: legitimate interests.
Who we share it with
- Service providers who host the app, store data and run AI scans for us.
- Paddle, our Merchant of Record, for selling subscriptions, payments, tax and invoicing.
- Professional advisers such as lawyers and accountants.
- Authorities, where the law requires it.
International transfers
Some providers process data outside the UK and EEA. Where they do, we rely on adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses to protect it.
How long we keep it
Account data is kept while your account is open and deleted or anonymised after you close it. Scanned posts are not kept unless saved. Saved results are deleted when you switch saving off or close your account.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or move your data, object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time. We reply within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls and other appropriate measures to protect your data.
Cookies
We only use essential storage needed to keep you signed in. We don't use advertising or analytics cookies.
